COMMUNITY SERVICE
I remember Jerry as a friend who always had a smile on his face as he would greet people with "How are you ... good to see you", and occasionally with a big pat on your back.
Jerry introduced me to the Davis Community Meals when his term of membership was over. It was a great experience for me where I was able to see big fund raising events, and was able to participate in working with the committees for fund raising.
For many years Jerry and Teresa developed and sponsored the Ice Cream Social of the Davis Democratic Club. He enjoyed it immensely and had members participate in the event. He had a small wooden box placed near his swimming pool, and the speakers were asked to speak standing on the box (and nervously looking at the pool). This event drew many people, present and future politicians ... anyone who had something to say, was invited to stand on the wooden box and speak.
The Davis Democratic Club will miss Jerry Kaneko, his stamina, and his strong will to make any impossible dream come true and most of all his smile.
May he rest in peace.
