ACADEMIA
I was on the UCD veterinary school faculty with Jerry from 1963 to 1994 (when we both retired). Jerry was a great guy, and always a pleasure to work with or make small talk with. Jerry once told me that he decided to become a veterinarian as a result of his experiences working with farm animals, during his family's internment on the Gila Reservation in Arizona. Perhaps, that may (at least partially) explain how he was able to experience such injustice without being permanently embittered by it.
