COMMUNITY SERVICE
Jerry Kaneko was one of a kind. Every time we saw each other, we exchanged hellos and greeted each other. We were together at the OddFellows, Democratic functions, Davis Professional Business Exchange luncheons, and many other fundraisers and benefits. I want to share with everyone about the 28th Annual Concilio Recognition Dinner/Dance and Scholarship Fundraiser. Jerry was honored for his many activities in making Davis a better place to live with a Board of Directors Award. I interviewed Jerry and was amazed at his growing up in the concentration camp to the military, his college years which led him to the UC Davis campus where he was an outstanding professor in the Vet Med Dept. He wrote the text that is still used today in its eighth edition. Jerry was featured in our program that night six times, more than any other single person in the history of the Concilio. His picture appeared with the other honorees, then five other Ads were purchased by others who paid for Ads as their way of honoring this great man. What a tribute! Like I said, Jerry Kaneko was one of a kind. Rest in peace, my friend.
